Equipping and Mobilizing
Equity-Minded
Leaders and
Advocates
The National Science Foundation (NSF) ADVANCE program goal is to broaden the implementation of evidence-based systemic change strategies that promote equity for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) faculty in academic workplaces and the academic profession.
With the support of a $1 million NSF ADVANCE grant (Award #2404550), the "Illinois ADVANCE Adaptation (I-ADVANCE): Equipping and Mobilizing Equity-Minded Leaders and Advocates" initiative aims to induce positive, sustainable, systemic change for STEM faculty by implementing evidence-based practices that foster a climate of equity in STEM departments at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The project will develop a sustainable, data-driven, systemic change model that removes informational barriers and builds equitable workspaces. I-ADVANCE strives for three goals:
-
Strengthen accountability structures that support equity in faculty work domains
-
Develop purposeful and equity-minded department leaders
-
Cultivate an inclusive departmental culture and climate
