Faculty Fellows

Faculty Fellows are nominated by Executive Officers (EOs) to represent their academic units to help implement the Faculty Workload application and enhance leadership capacity for data-informed decision making regarding service assignments.  The I-ADVANCE project adapts features from the Faculty Fellows program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst ADVANCE project (NSF#1824090) because of its focus on engaging departments.

Academic unit involvement through the Faculty Fellows is crucial for the development and integration across campus of the Faculty Workload application (FWA).  The first cohort of Fellows piloted and gave feedback on the application’s initial design and implementation in their home units.  The second cohort of Fellows is likewise guiding their units’ beginning use of the FWA while providing input about the application’s ongoing development.

Fellows were selected to represent a variety of disciplines and unit sizes to take into consideration how different units may interact with the application.  More importantly, they have a contextual understanding of the challenges and opportunities of promoting accountability, transparency, expectations clarity, and credit of faculty work in their respective units.
